Above all, the peace and quiet. A lovely comfortable room, very relaxed and welcoming staff, cozy and beautiful interiors in the communal areas. A fabulous location in the heart of the village and an easy walk to the stunning Rutland waters. Exceptional breakfast. Liked everything.

Our bedroom was very well appointed – modern, and the setting was stunning. It felt beautifully warm and cosy, and we enjoyed an excellent breakfast. Nothing else to add.

The hotel sits in a beautiful setting, is generally well kept and attractive. The staff were generally helpful but appeared scruffy and too casual: the receptionist wore a tatty black cardigan and Ugg boots, and the South African barman showed up in a stained white T‑shirt. The place isn’t cheap, and the standard of staff presentation was below expectations. The room layout was also poor – there was no place to plug in a hairdryer within reach of a mirror.

The room was comfortable and the staff were helpful, and the breakfast, lunch and dinner were delicious. However, there was no hairdryer in the room and no plug points near the bed.
