The Scandic Palace Hotel, located by City Hall Square in central Copenhagen, features elegant Nordic design, a popular bar, and individually designed rooms with modern décor, flat-screen TVs, and free WiFi. Rooms offer cable TV, black tiled bathrooms, and armchairs, with many providing views of the city centre. The hotel is close to Tivoli Gardens, Strøget shopping street, and Copenhagen International Airport, 10 km away.

The location and room size were good, but the carpet was worn, the bathroom was split into two parts which was uncomfortable, and there was no room service. The lobby was underwhelming, offering only a self‑service food and drink display, and there was no bellhop to carry luggage between lobby and room. The hotel clearly shows signs of its former glory, and its size and structure suggest it used to be a major, luxurious establishment, but it no longer meets that standard. It needs fresh investment and tasteful décor—especially in the lobby and dining areas—to regain its category. Today it feels like a mediocre business hotel.

The breakfast was good and varied, yet the room was over a pub with late‑night activities.

The location is perfect for a city trip, and the breakfast was more than sufficient. Public transport is also easily reachable.

I’ve stayed at this hotel for over twenty years, always choosing one of three City Hall‑facing rooms with a parapet that lets me step outside, and I love having the doors open at night for a peaceful sleep. Breakfast is one of the best in Europe, so I look forward to it every morning. The staff are consistently wonderful and very helpful—no complaints there. This year, however, the cleanliness was a bit lacking; the rooms are starting to look worn, with old carpet, furniture, and furnishings that make the space feel rundown. A fresh update would restore the charm I’ve always remembered. I’ve told my Danish friends I’ll stay again because I love it, but if the rooms don’t improve I might start looking elsewhere in Copenhagen, which would make me sad.
