The hotel's central location in the heart of Coniston made it easy to explore the town and its shops
However, I was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness of my room, as the toothbrush holder, coffee cups, and spoons were not properly cleaned
The breakfast was delicious
The hotel's location was ideal for our stroll along the old man walk

“Really friendly staff and a nice pub hotel”
A pub‑hotel smack in Coniston’s centre, the staff were genuinely helpful and the room was immaculate, with a surprisingly powerful shower and a very comfortable, quiet bed. The value was decent, especially since it was the back end of the Bank Holiday, though there are more upscale spots in the village; for a traditional Lake District stay I’d recommend it and would come back. I didn’t dine there, but the bar’s menu looked tasty. The only downside was the TV had few channels, but I’d rather turn off my phone and relax in the Lakes anyway.
The staff are warm and welcoming, and the place is full of charm with great beers.
The location is varied, the drinks are good, the staff are courteous and the rooms look nice, but the stairs are too narrow for luggage, there’s no air‑conditioning and only a fan was provided in some rooms.
“Amazing place”
Everyone from the bar to the restaurant and breakfast staff were friendly, available and welcoming; the room was spotlessly clean and the bed was extra comfortable. The location is ideal, with a private car park, and the food is good too. Nothing to complain about.
“Not value for money, uncomfortable stay .”
The location is great, right in Coniston’s centre, and the rooms are very clean with friendly staff. The bed and pillows were very hard, and there were no toiletries or a hairdryer in the bathroom until the second day. The ground‑floor room had no net curtains, so the blinds had to be fully drawn all the time for privacy. Mornings were noisy because the room was near the bins. The price was high and didn’t feel like value for money.
