“Families Beware”
The beds were comfy and the breakfast pastries were fine. We stayed three nights because of a funeral, but the room we got was smelling like cigarette smoke. When I told the receptionist at check‑in and asked for a different room, she said it was too late and that all she could do was spray the room. I mentioned that I was pregnant and that we had a toddler, but she gave the same answer and said she would just note it for staff the next day. The next morning the situation was unchanged, the receptionist was rude, showed no sympathy, and insisted there was nothing she could do, that the booking wouldn’t help, and that cancelling wouldn’t earn any compensation—even though there were health concerns. I talked to Booking and they said the property was uncooperative. We walked outside the next day and saw dozens of cigarette butts on the floor outside our room. Booking gave me some credit, which was appreciated, but we didn’t stay another night. The family can’t afford this loss, but health comes first. The room still smelled like cigarette smoke, so it needed a professional cleaning; spraying chemicals didn’t remove the smoke odor, which is a health risk for people paying for non‑smoking rooms. The showers had pink stains on the door tracks, indicating pink bacteria (serratia marcescens). The fridge, microwave, and coffee machine worked fine, but the TV didn’t connect and we had to screen‑share instead. Breakfast was normally decent—waffles, eggs, sausage—but the eggs here were a bit gritty. Overall, for a little more I’d recommend staying elsewhere.
