Dar Houdou sits right inside the Medina, just a short walk from the Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), making it super convenient; the guesthouse is quiet, tidy, and charming, with a lovely breakfast each morning, and the owner, Steve, along with house manager Mohammed, were very attentive the whole time—had a wonderful time in Fes!

Dar Houdu is a place I’d recommend to anyone visiting Fes. The location is fantastic, the place is a no‑brainer! It’s an old house, well‑preserved and tastefully decorated. The room isn’t huge, but it’s more than pleasant and comfortable to stay in. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Our host Mohamed took care of us wonderfully, giving useful tips and helping with transfers. Note that anything arranged through the hotel is always pricier than booking it yourself. That said, we’re very happy with the place and definitely recommend it!

The staff, the location (quiet, central, very close to Blue Gate and smack‑in‑the‑middle of two main streets), the room décor, everything is flawless plus a rich breakfast. It seems there are only 2‑3 rooms in this small Dar, so it’s never crowded – highly recommended. The bathroom design has a few minor flaws: water spreads across the whole floor, which is a bit inconvenient. Even with the fan on, the floor stays wet overnight; a mat would be better.

The house and room are lovely, spacious, tastefully decorated and very clean. The terrace is fantastic, though we didn’t use it. Breakfast was a 10‑out‑of‑10; we got different things on the two days. They clean the room in the morning, which is appreciated. The best part was the host, who offered help right away, arranged our airport transfer, and gave us recommendations upon arrival. On the last day we had to fly from Rabat and when we got to the station there were no trains or buses left; we called him and he organized a car transfer at a good price. We’re very grateful for the service. Highly recommended.

Good location, small, calm and quiet, with a nice roof terrace. Only 3 bedrooms, so few other guests. Carefully restored with authentic traditional materials. Helpful staff, good breakfast. Happy to recommend Dar Houdou.
