“Waanzinnig”
The setting is unbelievably beautiful—completely off the beaten track. The accommodation is fine; the cabins and tents are simple, yet everything is available. Don’t expect luxury, and you shouldn’t be here for that. Candles light the rooms, there’s no air‑conditioning or electricity. The rolling sea is loud in the background, and when the light fades you’re quickly awakened by the waves. But that doesn’t matter: the staff are insanely friendly, they think ahead and solve everything. They’re welcoming, curious, and full of positive enthusiasm, doing their best for you. The food is good—breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served from a fixed menu. Breakfast always includes fresh fruit followed by toast or pancakes, or something else entirely. Lunch is a single dish, and dinner consists of soup, a main course, and a dessert. The hikes are fantastic (four hours is perfect!), though not cheap. Wildlife is right outside your door; from the hammock you can spot ara, spider monkeys, tapirs, anteaters, and if you’re lucky, a tortoise. Tapirs also visit occasionally, along with small cats and many birds. The place is magically beautiful—about a 40‑minute walk along the beach or through the jungle, which is a big part of the fun. Truly a top spot. Nothing negative—just that it’s basic, not luxurious, but that’s fine. Everything checks out here.
