The hotel is lovely in a beautiful part of the city, and a nice walk down to Union Street. I emailed before I came, and on arrival I told the receptionist I was Coeliac with particular dietary needs; she said she’d note it. At breakfast I explained again, but the waitress wasn’t sure what was offered for a cooked breakfast, cereal, or bread, and whether separate pans were used. I was disappointed by the lack of awareness and felt she should have checked with the kitchen. I was anxious but didn’t want to push the point among other guests or embarrass her. I ended up with an omelette and a banana, but I didn’t feel confident at all. We’ve stayed many times before my diagnosis and want to continue, but I can’t be the only guest with special dietary needs; the waiting staff should be more informed.

The staff were helpful with answering questions and giving support when needed. Parking was good, but there was a bit of a walk up and down stairs to my room.
