The spot is amazing – right on the water, a private jetty and evenings full of frog chorus and stars make it feel magical, and Marcia’s breakfast is solid. The place looks great inside, but the power kept cutting out from midnight to 8 am and again from 1 pm to 7 pm, which was a hassle especially with no phone signal and only cash accepted. With no fans or AC, those huge glass windows turned the room into a sauna when it hit 34 °C.

The rooms felt comfortable and were spotlessly clean, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, we hit a stretch of unusually hot weather and the refuge has no air‑conditioning, so it got pretty uncomfortable.

The surroundings are wonderful with lots of nearby activities, and the refuge itself feels cozy with a spectacular view; Marcia is friendly and her breakfasts are delicious. The downside is you can’t pay with a credit card and there was noticeable construction noise during the day while they were expanding the property.

Marcia is absolutely lovely – 10/10 for her hospitality – and the place looks nice. Staying on the ground floor meant we could hear conversations and footsteps from the room above, which made it hard to sleep, and you can’t actually swim in the lake either.
