Be careful with the check‑in time here. I arrived about two hours late without notifying the host, which was my mistake. The host reacted very aggressively and told me I might not be allowed to stay at all, and that threat felt excessive for a paying guest. There is no self check‑in, so if you might be delayed, message the host well in advance. The room was clean enough, though it had a slightly musty, old‑building smell.

The place was very nice, but the fridge for breakfast wasn’t restocked – there wasn’t enough for eight people.

The house is simply wonderful, a large living area shared with three other rooms that includes a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, oven and ample cooking surface. The fridge and pantry are constantly restocked with fruit, yogurt/skyr, condiments, spices, cheese, bread, tomatoes, coffee pods and tea bags, biscuits and cereals. In the evening, watching the sunset from the terrace is very relaxing! On the downside, it was one of the most expensive accommodations on our trip to Iceland, but it was still worth it and we will keep a beautiful memory. We noticed that a hot tub is under construction, whose presence would make the stay perfect (hot tubs are very common in Iceland – like saunas in Finland – and we almost always found them on our trip).
