Hotel Casa Karina Bansko - Half Board & All Inclusive

Unfortunately, our stay at the hotel did not meet our expectations. The most unpleasant aspect was the attitude during dining – we were not allowed to take food out to the garden, even though it is part of the hotel. For us this rule was completely inexplicable and absurd, especially on nice weather when one would naturally prefer to sit outside. Another serious drawback was cleanliness. The hotel definitely was not at the level we expected – both in the common areas and overall sense of maintenance and hygiene. When choosing a hotel for a holiday in Bansko, one expects comfort, cleanliness and hospitality, not unnecessary restrictions that create inconvenience for guests. Unfortunately, we had a rather unpleasant impression and I think there are many things the management should work on.

The staff were all smiling and friendly, and the food was very tasty and varied. The room we stayed in was right above the summer garden and the restaurant, and one evening until 2 am we heard an orchestra, while the following nights there was laughter, shouting, and other noisy groups, which was extremely unpleasant. The kitchen had no dishes at all (only a water jug and four cups), making it practically unusable. It would also be good to have liquid soap, a towel, and some utensils there.

The food is delicious and well selected, with a good variety. Fresh, chilled salads and fruits are wonderful, and there are many desserts and well cooked main dishes. The room is a nice double deluxe with air conditioning; there is also a room without AC, which is odd. The TV is fine. It turned out to be advertised as All Inclusive, but on the spot it was not exactly that. There is no parking or it costs 8 € per day. Water, tea, coffee, or alcohol are only available during meals. When you relax by the pool you have to pay for water or a drink, because you have to wait a few hours and everyone is carrying cups and bottles from breakfast or lunch so you don't pay for something you already paid for before arriving. The garden or pool area is completely silent. Everywhere is dim without music, the corridors are dark—almost spooky. In the restaurant there was no ice and the staff claimed the ice maker was broken, so it stayed that way during our entire stay. They didn't fix it and when we asked them to put at least a little wine in the fridge they said it couldn't be done. All salads and fruits were cold and very fresh and tasty, but there was no place for drinks in any fridge. Imagine the taste of warm wine, ouzo, or whatever—by warm I mean hot drinks, the wine was like vinegar, and the smell of rakia was felt from the neighboring table. But the imported beer that was paid for extra, guess what, was it in the fridge?

Cleanliness, service, and food. The kids' room was used for other purposes and many of the children in the hotel had nowhere to play.
