It’s a basic hotel but exceptional for what an IBIS is – just a place to sleep. The reception girls were charming. Next year when we go back for the F1 we’ll stay there again.

The Ibis Budget Madrid Alcalá de Henares La Dehesa hotel is situated next to Dehesa Shopping Centre, 30 minutes' drive from Madrid. Air-conditioned rooms feature satellite TV and Wi-Fi access. A 24-hour bar and daily buffet breakfast are offered. The hotel is 500 metres from a train station connecting to Madrid in 30 minutes, with Barajas Airport and IFEMA Convention Centre 20 km away.

Breakfast was disappointing: the eggs were sour and tasteless, and there was less variety than before, especially missing bacon.

I liked the location, the cleanliness, the staff treatment, and the breakfast. The pillows were too thin for a three‑night stay, which was my case.

It followed the ibis chain standard and everything ran smoothly. The staff were excellent and understood the customer side.
