The only bright spot was the location, which was the sole positive thing about this place and its manager. The owner started shouting at me on the phone with unmentionable language and demanded extra money because we were late checking in due to traffic caused by bad weather (which I immediately apologized for and offered to meet the owner elsewhere to pick up the keys). At checkout, no instructions were given on where to leave the keys, forcing us to wake up at the exact time and wait 45 minutes with our luggage closed for a response from the owner who showed no signs of life. I remember that someone booking a weekend in Salento is looking for a holiday, and being welcomed by people like that made me feel truly medieval!
