The view over the lake is breathtaking, and the big windows really let you soak it in. Staff were friendly and attentive, which made the stay pleasant. We were there in February, so the bedroom stayed warm, but the lounge got noticeably cold once you moved away from the stove.

Don José Miguel is the kind of host you wish you could keep forever—polite, helpful, and full of fascinating stories. The lake itself is gorgeous, teeming with wildlife; we even saw a kingfisher perched on the lodge pier, which was the highlight of our walk. It was a real shame we only had one day to enjoy it.

We got a heads‑up that the place was closed before we arrived, which was courteous. However, we had been told weeks earlier that it would be closed, yet the reservation was still accepted, leaving us without a room at the last minute. It was frustrating to be left scrambling for alternatives.

The location is fantastic, though there’s no restaurant nearby; you can ask the caretaker to prepare meals right in the cabin, which works fine. Power comes only from a generator that runs at night, but it didn’t really affect our stay. The staff member who helped us was very accommodating.
