“Great stay”
I liked the onsite restaurant and bar and the abundance of games that gave the place a good vibe and great value, but the building could use a bit of maintenance and it felt a little tired.

Located in Ohakune, Kings Ohakune hotel offers stunning views of Mt Ruapehu, 2 hot tubs, and a restaurant with a large deck area. Situated near Ohakune Station and the start of the Ohakune Mountain Road, it's a 2-minute walk to both. The hotel assists with Tongariro Crossing shuttle bookings and offers packed lunches. Rooms feature private bathrooms, heating, TVs, and tea/coffee facilities, plus access to hot tubs, laundry, and bike storage.

The spot was perfect for reaching Turoa, and the kids enjoyed the spa after a long day on the slopes; the drying room was handy, and the staff moved us to a different room farther from the karaoke area. The room felt a bit dated but still met our needs, and while I’m not a fan of curtain showers, the facilities were otherwise fine.

It was a great place to stay for one night on a skiing trip, offering the best drying room I’ve ever seen and the best steak for dinner, plus beautiful views.
