The place was cheap and in a convenient spot, but on Saturday, two hours before check‑in, I got a text at 12:45 asking me to call the host. I called and was told there was an incident, and we had two options: 1) a refund within the next two hours, or 2) a refund by 12 am that night. I chose option 2 while I was halfway there. I asked if there were other places available, but received no help at all. I was left stranded and had to find accommodation at the last minute, paying a lot more and driving an hour from the venue instead of the promised 20 minutes. On Monday I checked my account and saw no refund. I texted the host again and they finally processed the refund, but there was no apology or compensation. This could happen to anyone, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

I paid £173 for four people for one night on Saturday 11 July to attend eddfest, booking the rooms in September 2025. I can’t really comment on the property because the host rang me at 7 am on the morning of my stay to tell me they had a maintenance emergency, and since I had not taken them up on the free cancellation offer, they emailed me about three days before (without mentioning the emergency) that they couldn’t fulfil my booking. This completely ruined my Knebworth itinerary and cost me money even after the refund—my train tickets were non‑refundable, I had to pay for parking at Knebworth, and the long drive on the A1 didn’t help my mood. Imagine my surprise when, within 22 minutes of the host contacting me to secure cancellation, the same property appeared in my search for £682. The booking was cancelled on the day of travel, even though I had booked it ten months earlier, and it completely messed up my plans, forcing a long unnecessary car journey, extra petrol, parking costs over £100, and train tickets I couldn’t use or refund. Avoid this place.

My 16‑year‑old son was booked for the night. He called for directions but no one answered. He couldn’t find the location of Skylounge Stays and ended up sleeping at Luton Airport, very upset and sleepless. Neither he nor I could locate the place.
