“An oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Ella”

We adored our stay at Top Tunnel. The rooms were very comfortable and incredibly quiet. The view from the two bedrooms was simply breathtaking. Breakfasts were unforgettable, with tasty fruit, papaya juice, coconut‑filled pancakes, kithul honey, and coconut roti—still dreaming about them. They offered a free tuk‑tuk ride to and from Ella, which was extremely generous. Top Tunnel is just a three‑minute walk from the Nine Arch Bridge. Highly recommend.

The accommodation and breakfast were excellent. The hotel sits on a hilltop overlooking the tracks of the famous railway line, close to the Nine Arch Bridge, just a few metres away. The waterfalls in Sri Lanka’s highlands, Horton Plains National Park, Little Adam’s Peak, Lipton’s Peak with its vast tea plantations, and Nuwara Eliya’s Victoria Park are unforgettable highlights, all easily reachable from Ella. A special experience is the highly recommended “Ella Spice Garden Cooking School,” where we learned about Sri Lanka’s national dishes in a private class. A train journey on the panoramic railway line between Ambewela and Ella was also an unforgettable must‑do for us. On arrival, we couldn’t find the way to the hotel right away, but the staff kindly guided us as darkness had already fallen.

“Perfect Accommodation in Ella”

The location was the most beautiful and peaceful. The hosts were brilliant and prepared the best breakfast I’ve had in Sri Lanka. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed.
