The peace was appreciated, but the igloo equipment didn’t justify the price. It was located on a construction site; only one igloo existed while the others were still being built. There was no furniture, hangers, or storage, the kettle was unusable, and the dishes were dirty. Shampoo and shower gel were missing, the bar was closed, and there were no public establishments (restaurants, shops, etc.) within 20 km. We paid far too much for this.

They picked us up from the port earlier than our scheduled check‑in and didn’t mind us arriving early. Technical problems with the original accommodation forced them to give us a different room, so at least we had a warm, safe place to stay. The intended accommodation was a glass dome experience in the Arctic Circle, booked months in advance. Snow was present before we arrived, yet the heating system wasn’t fully installed, making the room very cold. Water didn’t run due to electrical issues, and overall the experience was disappointing. They accommodated us in other ways, but the igloo experience we paid for and expected didn’t happen.

The stay in the plastic dome was unique. We were greeted by a very nice young staff member who was on her third day of work. The dome was well decorated, well equipped, and clean, and the sea view was also very nice. Contrary to the listing, there was no shower in the dome; we had to walk about 15 m on a gravel path to a communal shower near the sauna. We were there in summer. During the day the sun heated the dome to sauna conditions, but once the sun set it cooled down quickly. An amateur‑installed air conditioner was tried, but it didn’t really help. We requested a price reduction because there was no private shower, and the request was politely denied in writing. The promised refund has not been received to this day. Too bad!

The glass domes at the Arctic Ocean Lodge offer an extraordinary experience – the glass igloo is beautifully designed and invites awe and relaxation. Combined with the sauna and the stunning Lofoten scenery, this accommodation is absolutely recommended.

I landed in an isolated spot and slept in an “exotic” dome, which was cool, but the shower/WC was 15 m away from the dome, not attached.
