We didn’t receive the promised accommodation instructions beforehand; upon arrival no one was there, some rooms were half‑broken, and we only learned where to find the keys about four hours later after asking how to check in. By then we had already moved elsewhere because it seemed no one would respond and we might have had to sleep in a car.

It’s close to Joshua Tree National Park, right in the middle of the desert, on Native American tribal land. The host was very friendly and communication was perfect.
