“HOIATUS!”

We followed Waze directions to the accommodation, but there were no clear signs and the path was a poorly maintained forest road. When we got there we saw a rundown building with open doors. For about ten minutes no one was around. Then a man appeared who seemed heavily intoxicated and didn’t understand what we wanted. I showed him my booking confirmation, but he told us to wait and went upstairs. On the lower floor, where we had to wait, the smell was awful, it was dusty and the environment was disorderly with alcohol. He then led us to another floor. There was no room with a balcony like the one we had booked. The room was rundown and untidy, had no curtains on the windows, the furniture was heavily stained and partially had broken ceilings. The room smelled strongly of tobacco and dust. All the negative comments above are correct. I saw all of this with my own eyes. We left and didn’t use the booking.

The view was nice, but we stayed from Friday until today, the room was clean yet the bedding seemed to have been used before us. Breakfast was just what the house had left, so we skipped it the second day. At about 190 € for an adult and a child, we could have managed, but what really disappointed us were the hysterical lady and the male owners who yelled in German at us that we couldn’t park by the cottage (even though it was included in the price). If she had told us that a family of about 20 people was having a party that evening, I would have had no problem parking about 70 m away, even though it was paid for. Instead, her husband blocked the entrance by leaping in front of the car and shouted a single English sentence he could manage. (I called the police.) Later, a somewhat red‑haired man, possibly a relative, arrived, heavily intoxicated or otherwise, and became quite aggressive, shouting in German again even though I told them I didn’t speak German and asked if we could communicate in English or at least through a translator. Being in the middle of the forest alone with my 13‑year‑old daughter, I began to feel slightly unsafe. Fortunately, my daughter has no trauma from a few disasters in life… (but if she were 6, she would be quite frightened). It’s clear they do not truly value their guests, whether you’re two or more people, so I do not recommend this apartment, mainly because of the unprofessional staff behavior.

“Ich habe aufgrund einer Radtour für eine Nacht im Berghäusl geschlafen. Abendessen und Frühstück waren für mich ausreich”

The location was great with a superb view, but there could be more staff on site—at least two. I don’t think it’s acceptable for one person to have to do everything alone!
