“Not happy, will not be returning.”
I booked a cheap room for my kids and me for our annual summer break, expecting a decent stay. The staff were polite, professional, and helpful. However, the room had a mouse poison trap and brown stains on the bedding that night. As a cleaning business owner, I know stains can linger after washing, but it looked awful. The microwave was unreliable, the fridge froze all our food, and there was mold along the shower caulking. The shower curtain rod was detached and falling, the shower clogged and filled up during the first night and kept going. The inside lock on the door wouldn’t close properly, so we had to barricade it while sleeping. The pool area was uninviting, cluttered with construction debris and dirty; my kids refused to swim there, which was a key reason we chose this hotel. Breakfast was limited: the juice machine was broken, the waffle spout clogged, the toaster was broken, and options were sparse. Mouse traps were visible throughout the hotel. The 7th floor had a hot, gross smell that made us gag, especially in the hallway; we kept the room cold to reduce the odor. There was stuff stuck in the bathtub and on the mat, hallway and lobby ceilings leaked, and the toilet started to clog and make noises on our last day. We woke each morning with bug bites—checking the bedding and floor for bedbugs yielded nothing, but the bites resembled flea bites. The luggage loading area was not accessible; carts were falling apart, and the ADA elevator was used to bring luggage from the lobby. We didn’t stay in the room much, so we didn’t want maintenance coming or having to move after unpacking. I couldn’t afford to switch hotels on short notice, so we stayed.
