The setting was incredibly peaceful and beautiful, and the staff were very attentive. We almost had the hotel to ourselves because other guests were caught up in travel disruptions. The seclusion meant we couldn't walk to local shops or restaurants, but we were happy staying at the hotel all the time after having been in Udaipur town centre before arriving.

When booking we asked for rooms close together, yet we were assigned rooms 3 & 13, not even in the same wing. At check‑in the front desk manager suggested we might look elsewhere because they couldn't give us adjacent rooms. After an 8‑hour journey and lugging my 65‑plus parents and a 2‑year‑old to another property at 9 pm, they eventually gave us nearby rooms the next day. This was my second stay at an HRH property in Udaipur and, like last time, it was not pleasant. We will not return. They should inform guests at booking that the venue is booked for weddings—everything is a hassle, including parking.

The interiors are well appointed, but the management shows no concern for senior citizens. Cars can't reach the porch, and even seniors must walk a slight incline to the portico. The suites are upstairs; we were told there were only 10‑11 steps, but in reality it was almost 20‑25 steps with no lift. The whole space is not wheelchair friendly.

The property sits in a beautiful location with distinctive heritage character and great lake and mountain views, and the staff were pleasant. However, the stay was marred by noise all night and early morning from chickens and geese, and building work that started early and ran late each day. The internet connection was highly unstable, cutting out completely one evening and not returning until the next day; we later learned a damaged external cable was the cause, but staff couldn't explain or fix it. Because the TV uses the same connection, we had no TV or online services. The hotel might consider installing two independent internet lines. We were also disappointed by the restricted water policy: only two small bottles per room per day, with extras charged at a disproportionately high rate. For a hotel of this standard, a more generous, guest‑friendly approach would be appropriate.

The food was amazing, and the view from the room and corridor—deer and peacocks—was surprising and beautiful. The dining area’s location, the lake, and the campfire at night were the best indeed. No comment on negatives.
