RAP Hotel Balige

“Eine Übernachtung in diesem Hotel ist sein Geld nicht wert.”

At check‑in, a deposit was demanded for no clear reason. The door lock was broken and only crudely fixed. The room and bathroom were filthy (see photos), and the internet speed was low. A sign in the hallway requested quiet, yet a Battak Café across the street played loud music until 23:00. From 4:30 a.m., a rooster outside the hotel kept clucking loudly. Breakfast supposedly included Nasi Goreng with coffee powder in the room, but we missed it. In one of our rooms, the water was shut off; we had to ask reception to turn it on. Reception displayed a 2024 Booking rating of 8.5, but the current rating is 7.2, which I still think is too high. This place feels more like a boarding house than a hotel.

The accommodation was clean, the hot water worked well, and the location was good. The downside was a music bar across the street playing loud nighttime music.

The proximity to the lake shore and the city center is great. The only drawback is that the bedside lamp is missing.

The room was clean and pleasant, and the reception staff spoke English. The breakfast, however, was terrible, and there was a lot of noise coming from the karaoke bar across the street.

The bed was comfortable, and the staff were very friendly; there were plenty of dining options within walking distance of Lake Toba. The room itself wasn’t very clean and could use a refresh. Breakfast was subpar: you got a plastic bowl of almost cold nasi goreng delivered to your room, with no place to eat it and no drink included.
