The breakfast spread was impressive, offering everything from a full traditional cooked breakfast to lighter, healthier options. The dining area felt cozy, spotless, and tastefully decorated. The breakfast staff were especially noteworthy – friendly, helpful, and upbeat, and they even arranged takeaway breakfasts for those of us working early at the Stafford County Showground. Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale turned out delicious, and the coffee and tea selections were solid. No complaints here. On the downside, the curtains in our room were hard to maneuver; a bit of silicone spray on the metal rings and pole would help. We could use more coat hooks or a small chair for laying out clothes in the morning. In the bathroom, a hand‑towel hook near the sink would prevent water from dripping onto the floor, since the existing hooks are awkwardly placed behind the shower enclosure.

“Great Hotel with a restaurant that let it down”

The hotel itself was lovely, and the room was a generous size with a very large, comfortable bed, though it felt quite cold. Turning on the radiator only warmed the room to a lukewarm state. The bar and restaurant area was charming, nicely decorated, and had a cozy vibe. Every staff member was cheerful, chatty, and friendly. However, the restaurant seemed understaffed and the food let us down. The young woman who checked us in was helpful but clearly overworked, juggling check‑ins, room escorts, seating, taking orders, and delivering food. She was lovely but exhausted. Our table wasn’t ready at the booked time, so we waited in the bar area for about 20 minutes before someone reminded the staff, and then another 15 minutes passed before our order was taken. My husband’s steak was bland and tough; the burger looked good but was dense, overcooked, and heavily seasoned, so I didn’t eat it. We shared a dessert that was also unsatisfactory, with a custard that tasted off. It’s a shame because the hotel, bar, and staff were all wonderful, but the food fell short.

The bathroom’s sink emitted a strong sewage odor, and no one was available to answer the phone.
