The automated check‑in worked, the promised refund was given, and the décor was fine. The last‑minute check‑in at 20:00 caused problems because we couldn’t stay at the same place and faced inconveniences instead of conveniences. Here’s the story: on the way to Almagro, where the accommodation is located, our car broke down, preventing us from arriving. The check‑in had already been done online by me. The breakdown happened at 17:30, after calling my insurance company a tow truck and a taxi were arranged to take us to our home. At 18:30, just one hour later, while in the taxi heading to our home to get another car and continue the trip to stay at Hotel Tía Pilar, I received a call from the hotel. The person, in an annoyed tone, said, “When were you thinking of calling!” I explained the situation, that the incident had just happened an hour ago, that we were heading to our home to get a second vehicle and that we would probably arrive at the accommodation at 22:30 (I think, prudent time). He told me it was impossible, that they only accepted up to 20:00 and that they couldn’t leave the key at a nearby shop, bar, or anything. There was no way, but they had no problem returning the money, which I appreciated, but in the 21st century, with all the autonomous key‑delivery systems available, and given that it was an exceptional situation, it felt like they were adding more obstacles and problems as if I had already enough at that moment. An unfortunate inconvenience that nobody expected, and that the accommodation handled poorly. I’m attaching a photo of the online check‑in.

The old house is well preserved, and the owner’s service is good, but the room is small and the bathroom door is made of translucent glass.

We had coffee and infusions, the profits went into a jar for the Red Cross, and there were six inner courtyards that were fabulous. There was a bit of a damp smell from an old building, but that’s normal.
