Even though it’s a bit of a drive from Victoria, this independent cabin with its own bathroom and kitchenette makes for a great stop on the South Island; it’s tidy, cozy, and right on the middle ridge beside Highway 1, just a 10‑minute drive from Black Sand Beach, adding a unique touch to our trip. The sheets had a stain.

Cozy, roomy for two, clean, easy to locate, and parking is right beside the cottage. The only thing that bothered me was the heavy glass plates, which felt a bit pricey.
