“good place to stay”
A nice room in a very central location.
“Good stay for a good price”
Great spot, the staff were lovely, the place was tidy. We didn’t hear any noise during our Saturday night stay. The bedroom door key was fiddly.
“Ok for what it was”
The centre location was great, but there was no breakfast. The room had plenty of tea and coffee, and the entrance was very dark.
“Try elsewhere”
They gave us a room for the night—there was a bed, there was electric lighting. I tried to get in touch before arrival about parking, but the email from booking never got a reply and the phone wasn’t answered. I told them I’d arrive at 7.30 pm, so when I got there at exactly 7.30 pm I knocked on the door but no one answered. I left a short note on the door with a phone number, then a lady who spoke only limited English called back and told me to wait (not sure why). A few minutes later a car pulled up, a woman got out, opened the front door of the guest house, showed me the room and the shared bathroom on another floor, which only had one small hand towel. She then left. I was told to drop the key in the mailbox the next day. She answered my parking question, but the info was wrong and I had to pay cash in advance—no card accepted.
“Avoid unless completely necessary.”
The property was easy to get to, but the room was filthy. The bins were empty yet the liners looked reused, dust bunnies were everywhere, and the sheets weren’t clean. The host was unfriendly and hard to communicate with; the contact number on the door belonged to a guy in Scotland. She would also enter your room whenever she wanted to “make sure you’re not breaking any rules.” The bathroom had exposed wires, and a makeshift shelf made of a single bare tile with no trim had sharp edges that I hit my head on a couple of times.
