“Quiet, safe, close to the beach!”
Ginger Villa sits on the southern edge of Somone’s main strip, right between Somone and Ngaparou, so a 20‑minute walk gets you to Somone’s center—just far enough to dodge traffic yet close enough for quick trips to restaurants, markets, and bars. Beach access is only two blocks away, and a quiet road behind the property lets you stroll safely through a residential neighborhood to reach the center. I stopped by Green Brunch, a tasty café, and picked up bottled water, ice cream, and snacks from nearby shops. The rooms are spacious with balconies, and the property is locked tight and safe at night thanks to a live‑in caretaker. The grounds are well kept, featuring beautiful landscaping and a pool. My host replied quickly to a few questions and gave great suggestions for local eats and sights. We stayed three nights and loved it. The on‑property dog—whose name I can’t remember—was the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. While in Somone, don’t miss the beer at Maison Kalao. Support creative people showcasing the best of Senegal! The only downside: breakfast is basically white toast and mango, and since Senegal is full of delicious mango, I’d skip it and find mango elsewhere in Somone.
