If you’re looking to unwind, this spot is top‑tier; the owners are genuinely friendly and wonderful. Arriving at night isn’t ideal—booking a local taxi from someone who knows the roads is better, but it’s still preferable to come during daylight.

The Afro Beach Eco Resort feels like a hidden gem on a gorgeous, secluded beach that makes you slow down and savor every second. Francis, the owner, is an amazing host and the mastermind behind the place—warm, welcoming, genuinely kind, and full of fascinating stories. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home in an atmosphere that’s peaceful, authentic, and unforgettable, and the food was fantastic too. We just wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you!

Francis, the owner, and everyone else were very friendly and the setting was beautiful. The location was very isolated, there was no air conditioning, and the menu and bar were very limited.

Good location, a bit secluded, super relaxed staff and great food. The drive wasn’t super easy, I found it exciting, but probably not for everyone.

What really made this hotel worthwhile was the calm surroundings and the private beach. We honestly had higher expectations. First, the hotel could have warned us that the road leading to it is in extremely poor condition—a dirt road full of large potholes that takes about 40 minutes to traverse. Second, when we arrived, the hotel tried to charge an extra fee for paying by card, which we did not accept. Third, we added an extra room through the messaging system, and the host confirmed that both the room and the price would stay the same, yet upon arrival they attempted to charge us an additional amount. Fourth, the cleanliness of the rooms seemed to have been forgotten for months. Fifth, there were no mosquito nets, which is crucial since the rooms are in the middle of nature and not fully enclosed. Sixth, the electricity would go out in the morning and stay off. Seventh, on the last day one of the rooms was right next to the generator—the noise was terrible. We had to ask them to turn it off, which made it impossible to rest, but once they did, the rooms became extremely hot.
