The central location with short walks to the city centre and the train station was a plus, and the PIN access was convenient so I didn’t need a key. However, there was only cold water, and we didn’t receive any guest cards. The bed frame seemed hastily assembled, and the mattresses looked very old and unhygienic. Our initial inquiries were ignored, and later the property demanded extra money for bedding even though the fee was already included in the fully paid total price shown in the booking summary. When we pointed this out, they threatened debt collection and a fraud complaint. The communication felt very rude and intimidating.

The location was great, within walking distance of the beach. Unfortunately, the place wasn’t clean—the bathrooms were filthy, and mouldy food was found in the cupboards. The kitchen was poorly equipped, with barely enough dishes for all eight guests during a full occupancy. The beds were broken, with torn material. The downstairs residents or caretaker seemed untrustworthy; it was always noisy at night, possibly due to questionable drug or alcohol use, and we couldn’t sleep. We felt uneasy because odd people gathered outside the building, and there was a loud confrontation at the entrance involving a long‑time resident named Paterre. One of our guests was even offered drugs by a visitor or tenant from the ground floor. Immediate action is needed.

Contact with the host was limited to the essentials. The ground‑floor living situation seemed suspicious, the house looked worn and in need of renovation, and many repairs were patchy. The shared bathrooms were okay. If the house rules say no smoking, the hallway should not constantly smell of smoke and other inhalable substances. Where is the extra 30 € per person for the laundry package mentioned in the rules? I never received a confirmation or receipt for the laundry fee. The true host remains unclear. The house name appears as "Hausmeier," but a sign outside shows the name of a child and youth psychologist with a practice elsewhere in Westerland, and the email points to a clearly defunct Sylter Trüffelmanufaktur. The business model is not very trustworthy. Fortunately, there were no complications and everything ran smoothly, albeit very anonymously. The door code was sent by email a few minutes before the agreed arrival time and worked. Overall, the other reviews make sense. For someone who spends most of the day on Sylt and only needs a place to sleep, this is good value for little money, but feeling at ease is a different matter.

The storage was great. I wanted to change the booked day and the owner even released a room for the requested day, but the owner was very unfriendly on the phone.
