“Nice and helpful staff, but the room needs a big upgrade and there are rats running on the roof”

The staff was helpful and the tour they organized was nice. I booked for two nights but had to leave one night early. The room smelled like pee, which was disgusting; they sprayed a chemical perfume to mask it, showing they knew it was bad. The room wasn’t clean at all, especially the bathroom, and to top it off, rats ran on the roof all evening, making a huge noise that made it impossible to sleep.

The staff are amazing, and Ari gave a fantastic walking tour of the rice fields, waterfalls, and monkey forest; the social area at the reggae bar next door always has a good vibe and plenty of people to chat with. I booked the cottage, which felt a bit cold at night, so bring warm clothes. The only drawback is the mosque next door, whose call to prayer can wake guests early, but ear plugs help once you get used to it.

The property isn’t very well maintained and the cleanliness could improve, yet the price‑for‑value is decent, especially if you’re looking for a one‑night stay. Breakfast is included and good; I had banana pancakes. Regarding the room and bathroom, there are a few issues: the shower siphon doesn’t work well, so water flow is minimal; there’s no real door, just a curtain; one bathroom door was broken, and when I arrived the bathroom was full of ants, even on the toilet. In short, it depends on what you expect: for a cheap one‑night stay the value is okay, but don’t anticipate a particularly clean or well‑kept facility.

A beautiful, quiet spot among the rice terraces; my stay was only interrupted by some Australians who were lying in the grass just outside my villa, loudly drunk at 4 am. When I told them to go to sleep immediately, they ran away like little children.
