“I would not recommend this place to anyone to stay at.”

The hotel was close to the event I was attending, and the neighborhood was nice, clean, and seemed safe—just as safe as San Francisco can be. The bed was uncomfortable, the soap dispenser in the shower was broken so I had to pry off the lid and dip my fingers in it to get soap, and the toilet tank stopped working once; I had to manually fill it with water from a bowl, which was a hassle. I also had a single instance where the cold water in the bathroom sink didn’t come out—maybe they were fixing the pipes.

The location is quiet and the host is available remotely, but the accommodation is still damp and cold, and the trip was in March.

The room smelled awful, damp and stinky, and you only get a portable heater to stay warm; the duplex was split by a single door, so you never feel secure. The dampness made it really uncomfortable.

The place is in a good spot, but the TV only works if you sign into Hulu, Roku, or similar services—something you’re not warned about beforehand—and local channels aren’t available. I needed a proper sitting area and info on nearby restaurants and a shopping center, which I only got from a local person. The host helped by adding an extra day because I messed up my reservation.

“Really enjoyed our stay and would book again. My only suggestion would be to provide an iron.”

The room was really nice and felt like home. I found nothing to dislike.
