“Wrong location in booking and manager asking for additional invented fees last minute”
The room itself was standard and acceptable. The manager Ibrahim arranged an early-morning taxi for my 3 AM departure and accompanied me to the airport, which I appreciated. He also brought a small fridge to the room after I mentioned that, due to Ramadan and the heat, food was spoiling quickly - that was helpful too, but only on the last day of m stay. He also helped me bring a bicycle and information about the islands (information which were not always accurate as I followed them and found misleading advice). However, there were several serious issues: 1. The location listed on Booking is totally incorrect. The map showed the property on Hithadhoo Island, but it is actually on Feydhoo, approximately 15 km away from Hithadhoo and much farther from the main points of interest that influenced my booking decision. This was misleading. 2. Water from the sink contained visible sand and had a very unpleasant smell. I had to wash my teeth, body and face with that water. 3. Only one bottle of drinking water was provided on the first day. No drinking water provided on a regular basis - you have to ask for it when you see the staff; otherwise, carry water from the nearest shop, which is not near at all. 4. Shops are quite far away, so access to basic supplies requires significant walking. During Ramadan especially, it's a big problem as you don't have where to eat until 6.30 p.m. 5. Most concerning: at 3 AM, just before my airport transfer, I was informed by the manager Ibrahim that I “had to pay” an additional $24 environmental tax for 4 nights. This fee was never mentioned during booking, never explained in advance, and not clearly itemized. It was presented at the last minute, leaving no real opportunity to verify or clarify it. No receipt was provided, just fluffy excuses. Other tourists on my plane never paid such a fee. This felt highly inappropriate and unprofessional. Overall, while the room itself was basic but acceptable, the inaccurate location listing and the last-minute additional charge significantly affected my experience
