The spot was great and picturesque right in the heart of Val d’Orcia with all the scenic cypress trees, and the view from the balcony every morning was amazing; we ended up getting the whole suite to ourselves which was awesome. It’s a bit on the older side, but everything was clean and the AC worked too. I just wish there were shampoo and conditioner, so we had to buy some; the body wash seemed off, so we got our own (not a big deal). The owner was really nice, gave us fresh‑baked goods from his mom who made them, and there was delicious balsamic and olive oil that we enjoyed from the pantry with bread we had purchased from elsewhere. The only downside was that it was a bit old and I would have preferred a nicer bathroom.

The location was ideal, right in the center of all the activities in this beautiful region; if you love the film Gladiator, all the film locations are 15 minutes away, and we loved the small town San Quirico d’Orcia. All the necessary amenities were there. The kitchen was really not big—just a round pot, a pan, a cauldron, that’s all—so it felt like camping. We ate our meals outside because the indoor dining area was tiny. Luckily the weather was nice, not too hot and not many mosquitoes, so we had no problem eating outside, but it might bother some people.

Everything was perfect, a change of scenery, quiet in the middle of the Tuscan countryside; the hosts were charming and the cakes were excellent. Nothing to complain about.
