“Awful”
The location was reasonable to Royal Welsh Showground. We arrived, opened the door (after a fight with a poorly located lock box) and were greeted with an awful greasy Indian cooking smell; I thought opening the windows would help but no, this vile smell lingered our whole stay. On inspection of the kitchen everything – work surfaces, kettle, hob, kitchen cupboard doors – were covered in residue grease; I planned to cook there first night but it was disgusting so we had to book a pub meal. We then found this to be the least of the problem, there was NO HOT WATER. I followed the troubleshooting guide, nothing so rang the host who, to be fair, answered and talked me through the troubleshooting guide – still nothing. She said she would try and arrange a plumber for the next day. So a five hour journey and no shower, oh joy. No wash before we went out to dog show next day. A text from host to say no plumber could come and she couldn’t get hold of warden. A full day at dog show and still no shower on arrival back. We left the Saturday morning with no coffee as I couldn’t face the greasy kitchen again. The host did text to say she was sorry and would partially refund, a £156 stay refunded by £45, I felt was an insult. Other bad points: can only use TV if you have subscription services to iPlayer etc, curtains hanging off in places, carpet loose in kitchen to living room, a real trip hazard (I can see this was reviewed in July) cobwebs in bedrooms, two small electric heaters totally insufficient for 3 bedrooms and a living room, bulbs gone in kitchen and dining area, also outside light does not work. Steps breaking and slippery in wet. The pictures do not reflect how tired the caravan is now, I would not recommend a stay here nor will I be booking again. Had I been able to find somewhere in the area that had a ground floor room and dog friendly I would have left immediately. This was a trip for a dog show and my mum's birthday who has been very ill this year, I am so upset by this stay.
