Bungo and his mother were welcoming, and Bungo speaks pretty good English. The room was roomy and comfy, except maybe the bedding. Showers and toilets were clean, and the Japanese bath is the best you’ll find at a family‑owned ryokan. The pillow was thin and very soft, and the futon felt a bit hard—personal preference, but it caused some discomfort. The walls are thin, so noisy neighbors can be an issue, though mine were respectful and asleep before I went to bed. Crickets outside were a nuisance, so earplugs might help.
