The surrounding nature, historic building, and helpful, friendly staff were positives, but the hotel fell short of what the website and video promised. Both the pool and gym are actually in a separate hotel about three minutes by car, and walking there in the heat is uncomfortable, especially for the elderly. A five‑star hotel should provide transport to the pool, gym, sauna, or other amenities, unlike many comparable hotels. Golf lessons also require you to travel yourself, and the instructor never meets you at the hotel for the first session. Breakfast was adequate, but the vegetable selection was insufficient, posing a problem for vegetarians. Overall, the hotel is nice but not truly five‑star. The information about the pool and gym should be corrected to indicate they are outside the hotel grounds and that guests must arrange their own access. I also never mentioned where the chef's compliments are charged, sorry.
