The Sitwell Arms Hotel

“Not pleasant, I was pleased to leave.”

The car park was big enough. I struggled to get anyone at reception to check‑in; I was ringing the phone for 10 minutes and the receptionists seemed annoyed when they finally appeared. No lift, so only stairs, the TV didn’t work and was just dumped on a random surface. Hot water was a joke. The towel rail was hanging off the wall. Extremely noisy – paper‑thin walls. There was a wedding, so lots of noisy drunk people and random beer glasses left in odd places. Nobody seemed to be in control.

We had a restaurant reservation upon arrival, and the meal and staff were lovely, even though they were short‑staffed; breakfast was fine. The room was lovely with a four‑poster bed, though it looked a bit tired. The only downside was the damp carpet smell in the restaurant.

Great staff, atmosphere, and location, plus an amazing breakfast at the hotel.

“Can't wait until I can book again.”

The property sits in a lovely part of Derbyshire, great for walking the Pennine Way and cycling; I didn’t have breakfast, so I can’t comment on that, but the evening meal was very good and the staff were excellent, friendly, and happy in their work. I spent two lovely, relaxing days and would go again. There’s nothing more they can do; everything is spot on.

“The hotel and ambience speaks for itself…I will be back 😁”

The entrance is beautiful, and we were greeted warmly and given information. The room was loved: spacious, clean, comfortable bed, amazing bathroom, complimentary drinks and toiletries, delicious fresh breakfast, and great service.
