A beautiful accommodation in nature, very secluded for a quiet stay. The host and team were extremely friendly, and the food was very tasty.

The view was nice, which was a plus, and when we decided to cancel we weren’t charged for drinks that we had to pay extra for. The guy who brought us to the place and took us back was very friendly. The main issue was the 1200 MYR for two rooms with no proper ventilation, making it impossible to stay there – they claim there are fans, but they’re tiny and ineffective, so the rooms are hotter than outside, and the stay feels like a terrible torture; you sweat so much that your back is drenched. We came to snorkel and escape the city, but instead we endured torture, and the all‑inclusive meals were just pasta and rice with a tiny side, coffee and tea – that’s not all‑inclusive. The food was awful, the rooms were cramped and unbearably hot, you can’t sleep outside because mosquitoes and sand flies attack. The huts are on a hill with no airflow, while on the beach and in the lobby where the staff sit it’s pleasantly cool, with wind and Wi‑Fi, or you pay for a fan at the reception and cafeteria. Absolutely not worth the price. If you think you’ll cool off in the sea, you’re wrong. From the beach a huge sign warns of box jellyfish, and the water is at the ankle level, so you can’t swim. We endured the torture for four hours, ran away, and never got a refund. Absolutely not worth staying here; there are prettier places with efficient fans and respect for your money.

I was drawn to this place by the many positive reviews (even 10/10). Premise: I didn’t expect a resort, special comforts, and especially I stayed only one night because my boyfriend had a high fever and we had to leave early. The experience of this “resort” is absolutely wild and has some redeeming aspects. No electricity, in the middle of the jungle, no activities besides relaxing, very limited food (not excellent), truly basic accommodation. The problem is the quality‑to‑price ratio. Bizarre. The bathroom has only a cover, not a real ceiling, and a huge amount of animals (day and night) enter. At night I found myself in the bathroom with four hornets and many insects. There are no mosquito nets on the bungalow doors and it’s strongly discouraged to sleep with the doors open because animals/insects can get in. The problem is that without air conditioning at night it’s very hot and the only thing you can turn on is a tiny fan – which, being solar powered, doesn’t even last the whole night. The sea is VERY DIRTY, full of filth, algae and jellyfish. No sunbeds/loungers, so you either lie on hammocks (cute but uncomfortable) or lay a towel on the sand (very hard and full of insects). Mosquitoes: extremely many. Instead of sunscreen you have to spray yourself with insect repellent all the time. The staff are “fairly available” but not overly. Any extra request (a ball, a lounger) is never taken into account. We didn’t do any dives, but everyone we met said they hadn’t seen much. So the point is: either charge less or add some services with all the money you receive.

We have just spent 3 nights at Bigfin and we loved it. The place is beautiful, quiet and great for unwinding. We did a couple of dives too. The instructors were great and the whole experience felt easy and very safe (our last dive was 2 years ago). The food is delicious! Plenty of it and a few vegetarian options. The banana pancakes for breakfast were our favourite! Highly recommended!
