“Traditonshotel aus vergangene Zeit”

The old traditional hotel was well‑located, but it feels dated overall. The staff were very friendly, the hotel kept a classic and solid vibe, and the restaurant food was satisfactory and reasonably priced. Yet the 4‑star rating isn’t justified by today’s standards: the breakfast was poor with little choice, and otherwise there were no signs of a 4‑star property. It’s fine for a single night visit to Idar‑Oberstein, but otherwise not highly recommended.

“It was adequate.”

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was decent but not extensive. The bathroom looked nice, but it’s inconvenient to shower in a bathtub without a separate area or a shower curtain, so the floor gets wet.

“I liked the hotel. My room had a certain faded grandeur.”

I liked the outdoor dining area and the food was good at the evening restaurant. The location was convenient and the staff were generally helpful and charming. The cleaners were very good and there was plenty of hot water. The breakfast scrambled eggs and sausages were a let‑down, though there were other options most days.
