“Friedlicher Ort, der ein bisschen in Stand gebracht werden könnte..”
I stepped into a lovely garden with palms, a bed beneath a palm, a small outdoor bathtub, and an outdoor kitchen that had a tiny dining area, a large fridge, a sink, a stove, and a kettle. Before the bungalow there’s a sweet sitting area with a hanging chair. Heads up: if you end up at the “Gili Moonlight” door, don’t go in – it’s a whole house for rent. You have to go past it, turn left around the corner, and then you’ll find the bungalow entrance! The bed is big, has a mosquito net, and the bathroom has hot water and good pressure. Free water is available all day for refilling. The owner is friendly and best reached via WhatsApp. I booked a bungalow with a kitchen, but it turns out there’s only a communal kitchen. That wasn’t a problem for me because I was alone at the time, but the listing should be accurate. The bathroom could have been cleaner, though it’s an outdoor bath without a real roof, so it’s a bit hard to keep tidy. The sockets work, but they’re poorly placed – you have to push doors or unplug things to reach them and get into the bathroom. The cutlery could have been cleaner too, but it’s an outdoor kitchen, so it’s not easy; there’s dish soap ready. I didn’t sleep on the outdoor bed because it didn’t look very “fresh,” and the outdoor bathtub had no water. The island is very peaceful and friendly; otherwise, as a solo woman, I’d feel a bit unsafe because the last few meters to the bungalow are dark and quiet, and you can’t lock the bathroom from the bedroom, so theoretically someone could come in from outside… Think of the mosque calls and roosters waking you early – that’s probably unavoidable on such a small island!
