The room was very quiet and peaceful, but the service was poor; she didn’t care about her guest, communication was bad, promises were empty, the place was dirty, windows were broken, there were no tiles inside… it felt like I booked a room in Soweto.

The place was secure and very quiet, yet I’m disappointed about the stove situation at the host’s residence. I had gotten permission to use the stove to cook, but when the host returned from Pretoria she told me I couldn’t enter the main house because I was male. This was especially upsetting since my girlfriend, who was supposed to be cooking for me, was there and it seemed unfair that I was excluded. We slept without a meal, and in the morning she couldn’t even get up or call anything. Another issue is that staying there is at your own risk because the roof leaks badly when it rains, which was a nightmare for me.

There were no bath towels available, the bed was not comfortable, and there was no warm water.
