“Un lieu magique”
A charming spot facing the Manoir de Livet, an enchanting setting, very well decorated, peaceful, and the host is very friendly!
The room in old‑French style was suitable, with a separate library space. The spacious bathroom had a shower, bath, sink, and toilet in its own area, all very tidy and stocked with plenty of towels, toilet paper, shower gel, etc. Classic French breakfast was ample. It’s served in a beautiful historic setting with a view of the castle across the moat. The Manoir is a bit hard to find, especially since the separate “Chambre d’hôte” sign on the street side is missing (or we just didn’t see it).
“Je n'avais pas envie de partir :)”
The owner’s welcome was warm, and even though we arrived an hour late (I’d warned them), he offered us a tasty dinner of salad, crumble, and a drink that we enjoyed in the garden. The downside was that we couldn’t visit St Germain de Livet castle because the city of Lisieux, which owns the castle, hasn’t done any repairs in three years.
“Wie im Herrenhaus”
We were just passing through the Manoir de Livet. When we arrived, the tea salon was still busy with guests. Sitting in the garden with a direct view of the castle was really pleasant. In the evening we were alone in the house—there’s only one guest room—and we could fully enjoy the beautifully furnished home, the wonderful atmosphere, and the quiet. We made a short trip to Lisieux, but there wasn’t enough time for more. The accommodation would definitely be worth a longer stay. The breakfast the next day was tasty, though not as outstanding as some reviews claim. We’d gladly return if we’re back in the area.
“A challenge to find best put the chateau into satnav- the manor is literally next door.”
I was blown away by the host’s hospitality, the breakfast was top‑class, and the spot’s location was one of a kind – it felt like a cozy one‑bedroom apartment.
