We booked a night at the Poststation Zum Alten Forstamt but ended up sleeping in the nearby Hotel Haydau, which was sold to us as an upgrade even though the renovation wasn’t finished; Haydau feels like a modern, large‑scale conference venue with a rather plain atmosphere, the restaurant’s food was decent though the menu could have been far more ambitious, and the €26.50 per person breakfast felt pricey despite being genuinely good.

I was thoroughly disappointed with my stay, as the showers were freezing cold, and the reception staff showed no willingness to accommodate my needs.
