Everything was great, but it felt more like staying at a relative’s house than a hotel; there was no free access, you had to knock to go in and out, breakfast wasn’t optional and you couldn’t choose what to eat, and if you didn’t like it you felt bad leaving it. We were looking for something more typical of the area and there was no choice.

We loved everything! This magical, special place is not a typical hotel; it’s a beautifully restored 1600s house full of incredible art everywhere. Didier and Gemma are wonderful conversationalists who share their precious home so you feel like friends, not just guests. The breakfast was delicious and we slept better than ever in a quiet, dark room with a very comfortable bed. We can’t wait to come back—this is a one‑of‑a‑kind spot.

A magical place to stay for a while. The owners, Gemma and Didier, are so hospitable and interesting that we felt right at home. Their incredible art collection decorates the hotel and they have amazing stories to share. Definitely stay here if you’re visiting Patzcuaro or the region! Everything was fantastic!
