“Отель с плохими условиями проживаниями, о которых в букинге не указывается”
The hotel is in the old town, near the market and the promenade, but you can’t drive to it—prepare to carry your luggage. The photos on Booking don’t reflect reality; it’s dirty and grimy. The “bathroom” is behind an old curtain, and the toilet is similar. There are no interior doors; partitions are made of plywood, so there’s no soundproofing. The whole night you hear conversations and sounds as if they’re happening a meter away. The stairs to the rooms are steep, narrow, and high. The beds are terrible—thin mattresses that sag, making you feel like you’re in a cage. The pillows are only 30 cm tall; I removed them to get a more horizontal position. It’s extremely uncomfortable. The price is relatively low, but given these conditions it’s better to get a fresh room with a proper shared bathroom and toilet where you can stand on the floor barefoot without fear. The complaint is not about low room quality, but that the hotel hides the true conditions. I don’t recommend it for families, girlfriends, or wives unless you’re absolutely broke. The owner demanded the full daily rate for a few extra hours of use (in another Zanzibar hotel I paid far less). The manager insisted on keeping the key, citing fire safety, but it turned out he just wanted full prepayment for the extra time, and once he got the money he didn’t need the key and made the fire safety claim out of spite. For a taxi to the airport from the nearest drop‑off, the hotel asked for $20, but a local driver negotiated it down to $10. I do not recommend it.
