“Der Zahn der Zeit….”

Central location, friendly staff. The first room was incredibly small and basically a loft. That would have been acceptable if the single outlet had worked properly. After they gave me a new room the TV was broken. The third room’s TV worked, luckily. Overall the furnishings are quite dated and everything is a bit in need of renovation. Is there a maintenance person? If so, he should check the technical equipment! There used to be breakfast, but those were probably better times.

“Straightforward accommodation not far from the station and the Dóm.”

After a delayed train into Hamburg and an extra hour’s wait because of a cancelled train to Köln, it was well past one in the morning before I left the Hauptbahnhof to find the hotel, but the process was simpler than I expected, and the 24‑hour reception was a godsend for a tired traveller. Morning light filling the room was probably what I needed to wake up and get out the next day, and the en‑suite was good. I can’t comment on Wi‑Fi or breakfast as I didn’t have time before check‑out. I had messaged ahead from the train when it became obvious that I would be very late but received a confusing reply telling me to cancel (I had paid for a non‑cancellable booking) and re‑book. I ignored the message but it worried me – a system glitch or someone at the Ariane misunderstanding my message? Anyway, when I finally got to the hotel the receptionist was fine.
