Very much a home‑from‑home type of hotel. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was good. Parking was easy, just a nice place to stay. The shower over the bath was a little dated, but adequate.

The English breakfast was cooked to order and very good. The room had character and was very comfortable. The bar and restaurant were beautifully appointed. The staff were kind and helpful, and the cooking was simple and home‑style. The shower lacked a bit of power.

The spot is lovely in the countryside and you can easily reach the Yorkshire Dales. One bartender was rude and clearly not cut out for a public role, which was a sharp contrast to the rest of the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. Every night we ordered a bottle of wine and it was opened right at our table. I told the lovely Manager about both of these points at checkout.

The place feels cosy and friendly, and the food is very good. The only small problem was that breakfast started a bit too early, but the meal itself was excellent.
