“Super, freundlich und hilfsbereit!”

We liked the warm people and extraordinary service the most. Everyone made a lot of effort to make us feel comfortable. The food was unique and the stay was a truly special Japanese experience! Unfortunately we only found out about the traditional clothing for guests late. We’d have liked to wear it at the first dinner. The staff seem to enjoy this a lot – a nice way to appreciate their hospitality. And it’s also comfortable! Admittedly, I was somewhat disappointed by the first impression of the accommodation. Much of it still dates from the 70s, and especially the carpets in the hallways and the walls are now quite yellowed. Over time that bothered me less. And of course, one must say fairly: if everything were freshly renovated, the price would probably be different.

The food is extraordinary and very tasty! The location would actually be great for Nakasendo hikers if a regular shuttle to certain trains were offered. The rooms and the bathroom are a bit dated and nothing special. It’s a bit too expensive for what’s offered, except for the food. Also the location far from the station is troublesome, because the shuttle must be booked early, has a long response time, and you can’t plan spontaneously which train you’re coming on (or you just walk, 40 min to Nojiri).

The staff were friendly and even dropped us off at the train station in the morning. Dinner was nice, but the facility felt old and run down, as did the onsen. It’s a 2 km walk from the train station.
