The hostel sits right in the middle of Berwick on a quiet lane, and there’s parking outside the building. The ground floor hosts a café that serves breakfast and dinner, while rooms are on floors 2‑4 and the fifth floor offers a lounge and a fully stocked communal kitchen. Everything was quiet, clean, and offered great value, just like YHA’s usual standard. Nothing was lacking.

The staff were very friendly and the location is great, but the room I was assigned was a disabled room whose bathroom had a sickly smell.

I was welcomed warmly and the downstairs café area was pleasant to sit in. The upstairs self‑catering kitchen was clean and tidy, and I was satisfied with the room I received. Wi‑Fi worked fine in the café, though I’m not sure it worked upstairs. The room could have been aired out better when I arrived; opening the window made a noticeable difference.

We loved it! I brought my brother‑in‑law to celebrate his 80th birthday and we self‑catered. We stayed on the third floor, but a bad drain smell was noticeable in the corridor and the communal loo, which was a little off‑putting.

Great location in the centre of town in a stunning old building . Rooms basic almost ikea like but very clean and great value for money . Staff super friendly and helpful . Yes I would stay again
