Located in Port Ghalib, Pickalbatros Sands Port Ghalib offers a private beach area and direct beachfront access with sea views. Everything was fantastic: cleanliness, staff, food. The wine and cocktails need to be reconsidered.

Everything was in one place and secure. As a single woman, I felt uncomfortable when local male staff approached me with questions like if I’m alone and where I’m living. I discussed it with management, and they helped me handle these situations as part of local culture.

The resort spreads out around a salty lagoon and features three restaurants serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with varied and tasty food. The package includes a dinner at Cardamom, a Mediterranean spot, and another at Tagine, an Egyptian restaurant I’d recommend trying. The beach is wide, equipped with umbrellas, loungers and pouf chairs, and you’ll always find a free umbrella. Access to the sea is mainly via the pier, and from the shore you only need to walk a few metres to avoid damaging the reef. While snorkeling you can spot many fish, occasional turtles and, if lucky, dolphins leaping. The staff were friendly, helpful and always smiling, ready to meet any request; not everyone spoke Italian but communication was never a problem. Daytime entertainment was provided by an Italian and international team that organized various beach and pool activities. The rooms, as well as the common areas, were spacious and clean, and I’m especially grateful to the whole crew who worked all day with a smile and made me feel at home. One downside was the size of the water bottles on the beach – they were too big, often left unfinished and thrown away because they warmed up quickly.
